    San Sebastián is a beach resort town worldly renowned because of its International Film Festival, where is common to see figures from the European jet set, and also Hollywood's actors and actresses. Nevertheless, San Sebastián also offers an astonishing world of beaches that have made unique this Spanish city in the Basque country, because of its location, its urbanization and because each one of them has unique features, very attractive for the pleasure and relaxation of their visitors.

    The most famous of the bunch is Playa de la Concha, located to the west of the Urumea River, 1,350 meters long and 40 meters wide. It's separated from the river by the Urugull Mount, and it's on the La Concha Bay. It's shallow, transparent waters, its fine sand and urban surroundings make it a very visited beach with pedestrian access and excellent tourist services.

    WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO - HOTELS AND FLIGHTS

    San Sebastian is a synonym of luxury accommodation, as you can find the best hotels in the world in this great Spanish location.

    It will be great to get an accomodation near a small beach that can only be seen in low tides is to the side of the pier of the Santa Clara Island. This island is situated on the Bahía de la Concha and it connects, in the summertime, with the San Sebastián Port by a boat service that picks up tourists every half hour. Based on the huge amount of visitors received, the services are very good. It's a small beach that can be enjoyed for a few hours a day during low tide. When the tide is high it's totally underwater.

    Another beach at the Bahía de la Concha area is Ondarreta, the westernmost of San Sebastián, 60,000 square meters, preferred by young people. It has dressing rooms, showers, public restrooms and cafeteria.

    ACTIVITIES - WHAT TO DO

    The Ondarreta promenade, which lines the beach, has several stretches with the famous La Concha handrail, while others are open to the beach. On the sides of the boardwalk there are gardens and low buildings. It's sandy beach, widely used, and its pedestrian and vehicular access are very reliable.

    In the Gross neighborhood, we can enjoy, to the East, the mouth of the Urumea River. It's 800 meters long and 110 meters wide, and its biggest attraction is the strong swell, suitable for many water sports. Competitions like surfing and kiteboarding are very common there. This beach has been magnificently remodeled because its waters used to be dangerous. The reforms, which included the building of a breakwater, which resulted in perfect swimming waters.
