Marbella is located right on the Mediterranean, to the south of Spain, between Málaga and the Gibraltar Strait. It's one of the most important tourist areas of the Costa del Sol, with excellent weather and infrastructure, all set to receive the demands of international tourism.
Within the San Pedro Alcántara area there are other beaches like Cortijo Blanco, 600 meters long. It's semi-urban, with a moderate swell, and it has blonde sand and pebbles due to its proximity with the Guadaiza river. The Ancón is a narrow beach, only 15 meters wide and 900 meters long, with blonde medium grain sand. Another beach in the area is Guadalvina, very touristy with a medium degree of occupation, in which water sports like windsurfing, paddle boats, jet skis, etc. It's a 1,600 meter long beach, 30 meters wide, with golden thick sand, typical on this area of the Mediterranean, and lastly in this area is Linda Vista beach, which is very visited by tourists. It has a very good infrastructure for the tourist, with two beach clubs. In its North side there's an archeological area in which the site of the Basílica Paleocristiana de Vega del Mar can be visited.
WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO - HOTELS AND ACTIVITIES
Marbella has a divided highway and the Málaga Airport connected with the most important cities in Spain and Europe, is only 45 kilometers away. It also has a top notch hotel infrastructure, so it will be very easy to find accomodation although in the summer it gets overcrowded.
In San Pedro Alcántara, the beach with the same name is one of the most visited of the Costa del Sol. It has excellent services, dark sand as well as rocks. Water sports practiced in its waters are windsurfing, motor boating, paddle boats, etc.
Among the services available are a promenade that runs along the beach, which is approximately 1,000 meters long, and has refreshment stalls with hammocks, and a beach club with a swimming pool and a paddleball court, as well as a children's entertainment area.
In the area known as Marbella there's a myriad of beaches to choose from, such as El Cable, which is formed by a wide stretch of sand that is limited to the west by the Puerto Pesquero de la Bajadilla, 1,300 meters long by 50 meters wide, with a moderate swell, and a very visited beach. El Faro is a small beach with very quiet waters, located at the center of Marbella, next to the Puerto Deportivo, with good services and high occupation. One of the most important because of the amount of people who visit it is La Fontanilla, also located next to the Puerto Deportivo, with a moderate swell that welcomes a great variety of water sports. It has black sands due to regeneration, and throughout the beach goes the city promenade. It offers a good infrastructure and it has high occupation. Another attractive beach is Nagueles, located at the "golden mile" of Marbella, with high occupation. It offers excellent services, a beautiful boardwalk and a moderate swell.
Among the beaches of Marbella East is Casablanca, 2 kilometers of the coast with very good services. It' semi-urban and with a moderate swell. Costa Bella, along with El Alicante and Pinomar, are part of a noticeable beach area, surrounded by urbanizations with low structures. With fine golden sand, several water sports are practiced there, like windsurfing, jet skiing, paddle boats, etc. We can also visit Playa de La Venus, which can get very crowded and is located in the urban side or Marbella, 500 meters long and an average width of 40 meters. It has black sands due to regeneration. At the urban center of Marbella, specifically next to the Puerto Pesquero of the community and its fishing neighborhood, is La Bajadilla beach, 700 meters long, and an average width of 35 meters. It has medium grain black sands. It's a tourist and popular beach, with a high degree of occupancy and very good services.
Among the best beaches are also: Artola, Cabopino and Clahonda, all with golden, fine sands. Their waters are suitable for all water sports and recreational activities, being Cabopino the only nudist beach of this municipality. It's also known as Playa Artola, and it's on a dune section near Marbella, known as The Dunas de Artola, with fine and blonde sand and very clear waters.
At Puerto Banus, the beach is well equipped with a boardwalk and high level of services, it's 1,000 meters long and 40 meters wide. It's very appealing for the tourist, with a moderate swell. Its sands are dark with no pebbles. It's located right on the urban core of Nueva Andalucía, on the east side of the Puerto Deportivo de José Banús. Another appealing beach might be El Duque, with fine sands, approximately 1,000 meters long. It has a great amount of services and is visited by many tourists due to its proximity to the Puerto Banus.
WEATHER - WHEN TO GO
Marbella has an average yearly temperature of 18 degrees celsius, so it is possible to go the whole year but between June and August is the best time for the beach.
