The beaches of Gran Canaria offer an impressive diversity and beauty. For example, one of the biggest ones, with 2,700 meters, with fine and blonde sand and clear, tranquil waters, surrounded by dunes. We could say they are two beaches in one, because its easternmost side is always crowded and there's a shopping mall right on the beach, while in the other extreme there's an area where you can practice nudism. To get there, you need to take a detour which is well marked. This beach is located in one of the most touristic areas of the Gran Canaria Island, and the whole archipelago. It has an excellent infrastructure, regarding hotels, shopping malls, apartments, restaurants, stores, etc. In this beach the tourists can find pretty much everything.
Another great beach of Gran Canaria is Playa Maspalomas, about the same size or even bigger than the Playa del Inglés, with fine and golden sand, clear and calm waters that invite to practice water sports, and surrounded by the Natural Reserve of the Dunes of Maspalomas and a big golf course. This beach is divided into different areas: one for children and families, another for nudists, and another one for gays. Given the huge confluence of tourists, it has great accommodations, gastronomic, sightseeing and signposting.
WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO - HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
To get accommodations in Gran Canaria there is a great variety of options, as you could fine the most importan international hotels like Hilton, Radisson, and many others. So you will find options for every kind of pocket.
To go to Gran Canaria you can easily connect your flight trough Madrid. Or if you are coming from the most importante european cities like Paris or Berlin, you have direct flights.
Once in Canaria you can connect by sea with the other islands of the area, because there are a lot of companies offering small cruises trips between the islands.
Gran Canaria has it all: isolated, virgin beaches, such as Playa Las Mujeres, windy with a moderate swell, high occupation, far from towns, or like El Oasis, isolated and virgin as well, surrounded by craggy ground and far from towns.
ACTIVITIES - WHAT TO DO
Another beach that meets these features is Arguineguín, with gravel and stones, isolated and virgin, with no services at all. We could also go for Agaete, if we're into nudism: it's isolated and rustic, with medium grain black sand and rocks, a windy beach with a strong swell, high occupation, surrounded by craggy ground.
Among the semi-urbanized beaches, we have Playa Taurito, with fine black sand and tranquil waters. It's very visited because it's surrounded by a big hotel complex, an artificial lake, tennis courts and big parking lots.
